R.I.P. Gil Scott-Heron
Gil Scott Heron, a great poet, musician and a great inspiration to the Hiphop world, passed away last night at the age of 62. In the recent years, after being hooked on cocaine and crack, Gil returned to the studio and recorded a new album named "I'm New Here". Jamie XX did a remix to the whole album that gained alot of success. One thing a gotta say here - last year Gil had a booking for a show in Tel-Aviv, and he cancelled "thanks" to pro-Palestinian pressures - which was kind of hypocrisy on his side, because by doing that he let politics get in the way of music for the simple people. Jamie XX, on the other hand just did a show in Tel Aviv. Here's a great article about Gil Scott-Heron's life.
גיל סקוט אהרון, משורר מחונן, מוסיקאי ודמות שהיא השראה בעולם ההיפהופ, הלך לעולמו אתמול בגיל 62. לאחרונה הוא חזר לאולפן והקליט אלבום שנקרא "אני חדש פה". ג'יימי אקסאקס הוציא אלבום רמיקס לאותו אלבום שהצליח מאוד. דבר אחד אני חייב לומר פה, שלפני שנה ירד לי מגיל סקוט אחרי שביטל את הופעתו המתוכננת בתל אביב כתוצאה של לחץ מקבוצות פרו פלסטינאיות. לדעתי זה היה די צבוע מצידו כשנתן לפוליטיקה להפריע למוסיקה בדרך לאוזניהם של אנשים פשוטים. ג'יימי
